Standing on right side of tractor with hood open:
- I will check the coolant level by examining the sight glass, if it has one, or by removing the cap and checking for visible fluid, when the engine is cool. If needed, I will add coolant when the engine is cool to manufacturer’s specification.
- I will check my water pump is properly secured, not damaged or leaking, and it works. The water pump is belt driven.
- I will check that the water pump belt has no more than 3/4 ” play at the center of the belt, and it is not cracked, frayed or have excessive wear.
- I will check my alternator belt the same as the other belts, that it has no more that 3/4 ” play at the center of the belt and it is not cracked, frayed or have excessive wear.
- That is where I would check my oil level and this is where I would fill it. To check it, I would remove the dipstick, clean it, insert it, remove it again and check that the level is within safe operating range and above the refill mark.
- I will check the frame from front to back, cross members, box, and floor, on both sides of my vehicle.
