California Career School & YPIC Help Dislocated Workers

Both Robert and Dale were laid off from their jobs but luckily found the Yuma Private Industry Council (YPIC) to help them find work by setting them up with proper training programs. California Career School worked with YPIC to put both of these men in the commercial truck program in order to successfully earn the training needed for an industry with many job openings.

CRST: Their Experience with CCS & Their Job Openings

“CRST is experiencing an exciting period of growth at this time in our company, and needs to add approximately 600 drivers to our fleet in the next twelve months. To meet this need, we hire both experienced drivers and recent truck school graduates. When we hire graduates from truck schools, it is extremely important that we hire from the best schools in the country. California Career School is one of those schools.

In the times that I have visited this school, I have been quite impressed by the quality, caliber and professionalism of the staff and the facilities. We have hired many of their graduates and they have turned out to be excellent drivers for our company. In fact, in my 15 years of recruiting experience I would say that this has consistently been one of the top two truck schools in all of southern California, and that is quite an accomplishment.

After Driving Over the Road

“Hello, my name is Joe Droegemeier. I am retired from the US Army with 20 years of service and like most vets, I didn’t really know what I wanted to get into. I had little over a year to go when I received a call from Geoff Berner (Counselor California Career School) presenting me with the idea of driving a truck once I retired from the Army.

I began training with the California Career School while I was still on active duty with the Army. California Career School allowed me to do my training on weekends (military personnel only) up until the time I was ready to test at the DMV. I was also able to use tuition assistance through the military and the company i drove for paid back my portion of what was left after tuition assistance.

After driving over the road, I now drive local and see my family every night.

Joe Droegemeier”

Marine Looking for Career Change

Update!

James passed bus today, Wednesday, March 2, 2011! He is now both a Class A and Class B driver. CCS wishes him a big congratulations and a thank you to Don for making sure that his training went smoothly!

As am I writing at this very moment, James Kilkelly is taking his commercial driver’s test for his Class B license out in Yuma, AZ. Donald Jacobs, our instructor, called to let us know that James passed his Class A test yesterday and that he was quite ready for his Class B right away.

In a few hours, I should be able to find out about Mr. Kilkelly’s results. So in the meantime, he’s given us a few words to share with any prospective students interested in commercial truck driving!
